Sunday Dinner

I thought itd be fun to do a themed dinner this week got any ideas?

Colossians 3

Put On The New Self


so....i've been struggling with this thought of What is pleasing to God? especially in regards to our community, i want badly to know if what we are "doing" is a pleasing aroma to him. Sometimes i know it is definitely not, but lots of times i find myself a little lost in what is pleasing to him.
i don't have any answers or revelations at the moment but i did come across this portion of Colossians and love the wording. I do believe that God is speaking to people like us who have been "raised with Christ" to a new self and new hope...yet we are human and we do all these fleshy things.
i don't know...i just really loved this passage and was encouraged by it especially when we are all facing some new and hard realities in our community. love you girls


Colossians 3:1-17
"If Then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ IS, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ IN God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him IN glory.

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness (epithemia, for you following Rods teachings) which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. BUT NOW you must put them ALL AWAY: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Do not LIE to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being RENEWED IN KNOWLEDGE AFTER THE IMAGE OF ITS CREATOR. Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is ALL and IN ALL.

Put on then, as God's CHOSEN (adopted) ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, BEARING WITH ONE ANOTHER and if one has a complaint against another, FORGIVING eachother; AS THE LORD HAS FORGIVEN YOU, SO YOU MUCH ALSO FORGIVE (sooo good) . And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And BE THANKFUL. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with THANKFULNESS in your hearts to God. AND WHATEVER YOU DO, in word or deed, DO EVERYTHING IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS, giving thanks to God the Father (abba) through him."

On Vday we pray

HaPpY VaLeNtInEs DaY LOVES!! (or for most of us out there, happy singles awareness day, lol) ok i'm kidding... well, only a little.. but I've decided that valentines day isn't something for us ladies to cringe at that don't have men in our lives because this day is also about love, not just couples.

I really feel like God tries to teach me that multiple times a year and most of the time I ignore it. I think about how much it sucks being single and how bad I want to be pursued and for someone to care about me in that way. While this pity party is going on God tries to tell me how FULL and PERFECT His love is. And even if, at that moment, I had a man, His love would be far greater than it anyways. It would never fail me in any way. I would never get disappointed with it. It would make me whole.

It's easy to type this but not as easy to take head to these words. But it's my prayer for now, that I allow God's love to be the only love I seek right now... And when God's path for me intersects with the man I am supposed to marry, then my heart will be fully prepared for it. Because it will be in His timing.

I love you girls so much, but God loves you even more! (way more) =D

k. one last thing and I swear I'm done.. Today is April's parents anniversary. Her Mom isn't doing that well this week, understandably so, but if we could all just lift up her Mom and April too, cuz I know this is affecting her, then that would be great.

Sunday!!

So i was just wondering if we could do some hard core praying on sunday. God is just putting it on my heart that we need to be praying and asking his spirit to fill us and the neighborhood and more than that, GR and Beyond. :)
OH and April and I will be cooking/baking on saturday so come by. Plan on 4 pm unless notified.

WHO WANTS TO GO TO TURKEY!??!

Hey Ladies,

Ryan Waalkes contacted me earlier this week to see if any of you ladies would be interested in going to Turkey for 2 weeks in late May-early June. (I believe that's the timing).

Ryan's brother, Jeff, is a missionary in Kyrgyzstan with YWAM and will be holding a prayer summit among other YWAM Leaders from around the world in Turkey. Jeff has invited the community of BSHOP (and you ladies) to be a part of the prayer team that dedicates their time to PRAYER during the two weeks as these meetings are being held.

COOKING AND BAKING TOGETHER!

Hello beautiful ladies!

Saturday Feb 12? We are going to be cooking and baking at 153 Lane. Jessica will be done with work at 2p so we were thinking 4p. Anyone who wants to come is MORE than welcome. Even if its just to stop buy and eat what we are baking. If this time doesn't work and you want to start a little earlier let me know but we'll probably be in the kitchen most of the evening.

Tomorrow Prayer

Hey Ladies,

is it at all possible to meet at the Lane house for prayer tomorrow? My sister and her husband will be spending the night in my living room and I'm pretty sure they won't want to have to wake up at 7:30. lol. If this is a hassle, just let me know!

April's Birthday

Hey girls.

April's birthday is tomorrow!!! (tuesday Feb.1)

So we are planning on getting drinks/dessert tomorrow night.

The plan is to meet at 9:30 at our appartment, 153 Lane and then drive there.

I will send the location in a secret facebook message, so it is a surprise to April.

If you can't make it tomorrow we are also doing dinner at 6pm on Saturday. More details to come!!!

Skiing/Snowboarding night

On Sunday nights Cannonsburg Ski Area has a special that lift tickets and rentals are $20 from 5pm until 10pm.

So some Sunday we should go have some fun instead of having a meeting.
We can pack dinner and eat in the lodge together.


Our options for nights to go:
Feb 13th
Feb 20th
Feb 27th

Comment and let us know if is one Sunday that would work better than another.

BREAKFAST FOR DINNER

Hey Chicas,

Remember that dinner tonight is going to be a breakfast theme!
I'll be making monkey bread and fruit salad...so other options could be: eggs, potatoes, bacon, muffins, etc.

Also, I'm excited for us to come together and hear what God has impressed on our hearts regarding prayer. Let's be praying for tonight's meeting...that we would experience His peace, His strength, and His leading, as we discuss our prayer rhythm.

P.S. Remember your notes for Maggie! I still haven't gotten her address, so hopefully we can get that ASAP and mail her all of these awesome notes!!
